The percent of US homes with Hi-Def TVs has more than doubled over the last 18 months, rising from ten percent in July 2007 to 23 percent last month. 
Nielsen Media Research reports the average monthly increase is about 5.1 percent.
About three in ten households in Washington DC, New York, Detroit and Seattle have HD sets — higher than the US average.
