Perfect Programming Storm: Weather Channel + NBC

The people at NBC are no dummies. They wouldn’t have spent $3.5 Billion to buy The Weather Channel and Weather.com without having some synergies up their sleeves.

  • weathER – Any reference to the word, weathER, at any NBCU station or business will be spelled: weathER. In the ER series finale the hospital will be destroyed by a hurricane.

  • America’s Got Climate
  • E.R. – Expect Rain
  • Noreaster Parade: Boy-meets-girl, boy-loses-girl, boy dances-with-girl during a disastrous Noreaster.

Reality

  • The Biggest Forecast: In this two-hour celebrity special, Donald Trump, Jay Leno and Mariska Hargitay compete for charity as they travel around the world to see who can return with the most dramatic weather forecast.
  • Friday Night Light Showers Followed By Partial Clearing
  • Friday Night Lightning – Everyone in a town stays home every Friday night to watch increasingly graphic lightning.
  • Nashville Starwatching – A group of families congregate every night to look at the stars in Nashville. The telescopes are also used to spy on each other’s homes.
  • The Apprentice Meteorologist

Comedy

  • The Dukes of Blizzard: Hilarity ensues when the Dukes discover they have identical cousins, all of whom are employees at Disney’s Blizzard Beach in Orlando, Florida.
  • My Name is Hurricane Earl
  • Last Cyclone Standing: Celebrity Panel tries to match wits naming the most ferocious weather events of all time
